SOCIAL VIRUS

This model (of the building) is designed in the style of Deconstructivist architecture.

Deconstructivist architecture is a form of architecture which delves into the philosophical and psychological aspect of architecture.

This model is titled "SOCIAL VIRUS"

The front of the model is clad in shiny and reflective material, representing a stainless steel skin. The transparent bits are thin sheets of laminate, which represents glass. The sides are plain white, to represent reinforced concrete.

Now you may question, why is it shiny in front and plain jane on the sides?

Think of a bra or a bikini. Why is it nice and attractive looking out front, but rather ordinary looking at the sides?

It's entitled SOCIAL VIRUS because of our modern day society. 

We strive to conform; to try to fit in. We are afraid of  controversy, afraid of becoming an outcast.

In daily life, we present ourselves as "normal" trendy people. We hide our troubles and unsightly problems from the prying eyes of the public.

The reflective surface out front shows our attention to detail. We want to imitate fashionable and popular figures of the current society because we assume that by being (acting, behaving, dressing; well imitating them), we can and will blend into the crowd.

The sides are plain white because from the side (whilst looking at someone), we look alike. In the firelight or in complete darkness, our silhouettes look the same, and we feel the same (when touched; speaking in general as some people are a little tubby).

The clear glass facing in one direction shows the hierarcial society (To see, to be seen).

The form of the building itself is phallic, symbolising the sporadic sexism where men always triumph over women throughout the course of history.

On the insides, it is a mess. Chaos.

All the sorrows and regrets are heaped in mounds. It is a cancer.

The imperfections are obvious (see the crooked stairs and exposed glass surfaces). 

The black spots and specks are like the pathogens that invade our body via the social engineering through our minds.

The black pyramids are the degree of infection of our flesh. Some are lost causes (completely blackened), some almost beyond help (partially blackened), and a minor few on the verge of infection.

The idea behind the design is to create a disturbing atmosphere for the inhabitant, making one reflect on the social crisis.
